Men teeter in high heels in Alaska walk to raise awareness of sexual violence against women

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A few dozen men seeking to raise awareness for sexual assault violence against women tried to walk a mile in their shoes Friday — literally.

Among the participants — some burly and others bearded — in the fourth annual “Walk a Mile in her Shoes” event at the University of Alaska Anchorage was the head of Alaska State Troopers, Col. Keith Mallard, who slipped out of one of his red suede peep-toe shoes during the walk.

Men Step out in Style to Support the Rape Crisis Center of Milford

MILFORD-The fifth annual 'Walk a Mile in Her Shoes' fundraiser brought hundreds of people of all ages to downtown Milford Sunday to support the Rape Crisis Center of Milford.

Men sporting high heels and rocking a positive attitude stepped out in style -- alongside women and a few dogs -- as the community came out in full force for the event.

PADA Presents Walk A Mile In Her Shoes Event in May 2011
Jefferson, WI - People Against Domestic & Sexual Abuse (PADA) is planning their fourth annual “Walk A Mile In Her Shoes” for Saturday, May 7, 2011at East Elementary School in Jefferson Wisconsin sponsored by Fort HealthCare Behavioral Health.

The “Walk A Mile In Her Shoes” event is for individuals and families to literally walk a mile in high heeled shoes or other fun shoes to promote awareness about domestic and sexual violence in the community and across the world. This event is a walk/march for the whole family that centers on preventing domestic and sexual violence and demonstrating that we, as residents, will not tolerate violence in our community or in our homes.
